One of the hardest things about getting a creative project off the ground is acquiring funding so you can reach your goals. If there is a film that you want to put together, photography that you want to take, then why wait? This summer take your creative ideas and make them a reality. Here are some ways you can raise funds and get started.
#1 Bake Sale Fundraiser - People love food. Get together with your Local Youth Group/Masjid to have a Bake Sale event. This is an awesome way to show the local community that you are passionate about your work. Give this a try, especially if your work features the local community in any way or you are looking to inspire the community and youth.
#2 Kickstarter - Kickstarter is a funding tool for “creative projects”. You can sign up on their site and spread awareness to family, friends and the world. It’s a great way to show you are serious and have goals that you want to accomplish. Creative endeavors that are featured on Kickstarter include movies, art exhibitions, and books.
#3 Pepsi Refresh Project – Pepsi has launched a huge campaign to fund thousands of great ideas that can make a positive impact on the community. Why not add your idea to the list of those to be sponsored by Pepsi? What qualifies as an idea? According to Pepsi – “We are looking for ideas from individuals, non-profits and pro-social businesses that can make a positive impact in the community. Ideas should be feasible and completed 12 months from the date you receive the first funds. Ideas must have impact within one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.” Ideas can fall into the following catogories: Health, Arts & Culture, Food & Shelter, The Planet, Neighborhoods, & Education.
#4 - Use Twitter to Raise Funds - Already Twitter has been applauded for raising hundreds of thousands for charities. Here’s tips from Mashable to help you raise the funds you need. #5 – Family, Friends & Facebook - Never underestimate the help that you can receive from family and friends. You can start by just talking to people you are close with. Tell them about your idea and what you hope to accomplish. To show them that you are serious you can setup a Facebook page and Website. And whatever they donate be sure to send them a note of thanks.
