The Nür Center for art, fitness, and enrichment. Located at 3431-F Carlin Springs Rd. Falls Church, VA, the center provides a space that caters to the arts, both the physical and the creative. The center started as the brain child of a mother, her daughter, and son. They all had their own individual dreams, but realized they could combine their dreams to create a new, unique arts center.

The center offers studio art for all ages, including photography, graphic design basics, and aesthetic awareness and appreciation. The center’s newest art studio, The Giving Tree Art Studio, had its grand opening on January 15th, while their fitness program had its grand opening a few months ago.

The Nür Center provides classes for all ages including: tae kwon do, kickboxing, as well as zumba and yoga for the ladies. The class times all accommodate busy schedules, making it much easier to increase participation. The enrichment program provides materials and resources for home schoolers and those who would like to add to their children’s education. It also provides assistance to help guide children through the schooling process.

The center has also been used to host shows, concerts, brunches, dinners, poetry readings, book signings. The center is becoming the place to host events. It was used last month to host the Poetic Vision Tour. The PVT allowed the audience to follow the performances with lyric books and discussions. They also recently hosted a youth project management workshop. In the future, the center will inshAllah be equipped to do film screenings as well.

Along with the vast services the center already provides, inshAllah the founders would like to expand the center to offer a full basketball court and swimming facilities. Nadiya El-Khatib, one of the co-founders of the center, expressed that she would like the center to be known as a Muslim initiative, but wants the services provided to not be strictly for Muslims. The center is a chance for the community to come together in an open environment.
